Dr. Badoyannis is best known at NYMC for co-founding the annual Graduate Student Research Forum in 1989.
She and fellow Ph.D. candidate, Sherry Downie, Ph.D. '94, had the idea for the forum while Badoyannis was preparing a poster for a national scientific meeting. The forum allows students to practice presenting their research and gain feedback. It also serves as a showcase for the work conducted in the School of Basic Medical Sciences and provides students with the opportunity to meet a nationally-recognized researcher, who gives the keynote address.
During her studies at NYMC, Dr. Badoyannis was the recipient of the Leonidas Lantzounis, M.D.,Biomedical Research Grant from the Hellenic Medical Society. She currently teaches in the department of Global Language at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, part of the New York Three Village Central School District.
