All research projects/studies that involve the use of data from the Healthcare Utilization Project (HCUP) National IReadmission Database (NRD) database must be submitted in the form of a research proposal to the NYMC IRB via MENTOR prior to the start of the study. This will allow for determination of whether it is Not Human Subjects Research (NHSR). This will also provide documentation of IRB consideration for publication purposes.
The Nationwide Readmission Database is only available to NYMC students and faculty members using the process below. Other interested parties can purchase access directly from HCUP.
In order to access the HCUP Nationwide Readmission Database from NYMC, you must submit the following in the form below after you have your IRB status documentation:
1. The HCUP DUA training course completion certificate. Found at https://www.hcup-us.ahrq.gov/tech_assist/dua.jsp. Print out or save the certificate of completion for submission.
2. The Data Use Agreement for the Nationwide Databases https://www.hcup-us.ahrq.gov/team/NationwideDUA.pdf
3. The NYMC Voluntary Attestation for Use and Access to the HCUP. See below.
4. Documentation of IRB Review Status.
