Started in 2007 by the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), “ISKME is an independent, education nonprofit whose mission is to improve the practice of continuous learning, collaboration, and change in the education sector. Established in 2002, ISKME conducts social science research and develops evidence-based innovations that improve knowledge sharing in education.” (From ISKME.org)

This catalog contains educational content originally curated by Boundless. In collaboration with the Boundless team, Lumen Learning imported these OER courses to the Lumen Platform, to ensure they remain freely available to the education community after Boundless ceased operations

MedEdPORTAL is a MEDLINE-indexed, open-access journal of teaching and learning resources in the health professions published by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), in partnership with the American Dental Education Association. MedEdPORTAL publications are stand-alone, complete teaching or learning modules that have been implemented and evaluated with medical or dental trainees or practitioners. Each submission is reviewed by editorial staff and external peer reviewers using a standardized review instrument grounded in the tenets of educational scholarship. MedEdPORTAL invites educators to submit generalizable educational materials that have been implemented with target learners with the aim of helping to improve patient care.

The mission of The Teaching Center at Washington University is to improve teaching and learning by integrating pedagogy and scholarship with classroom design. This integrative approach allows us to foster innovation in the classroom. Programs and services focus on three interconnected areas: creating a collaborative teaching culture; advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning; designing flexible, intuitive classrooms.

OCW makes JHSPH course materials used in the teaching of actual courses freely and openly available on the Web. You may share and adapt the materials on OCW under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license.

Educators and researchers can use the Teaching Commons to discover teaching materials, adopt content for their courses, or create and share their own work. The Teaching Commons is built on the Digital Commons platform, which offers authors a powerful set of tools-- including multimedia support, versioning, embedded comments, and geo-location, among others -- to support the large variety of publishing needs in this growing field.

Bookshelf provides free online access to books and documents in life science and healthcare.

Publications from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine provide objective and straightforward advice to decision makers and the public. This site includes Health and Medicine Division (HMD) publications released after 1998. A complete list of HMD’s publications from its establishment in 1970 to the present is available as a PDF.

The teaching of histology increasingly relies on digital resources in lieu of traditional microscope laboratories. Digital Histology provides an open educational resource that combines a digital atlas with extensive descriptive text. It is organized as a multi-hierarchy outline that reinforces broader histological concepts and parallels the content of most histology textbooks. Digital Histology, featuring on-demand labeling of structures and interactive quizzes with formative feedback, can be used by a diverse group of learners.

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) supports basic research that increases our understanding of biological processes and lays the foundation for advances in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. NIGMS provides science education resources that includes fact sheets, e-publications, multimedia and images, as well as a series of articles, video lectures and interviews on science and education.
