The Archives is available during normal business hours to answer reference requests regarding our collections. To ask a question, you can contact the Archivist directly or use the Ask A Librarian form.
Please be aware that the Archives is a historical repository and does not manage patient medical records. If you were born at Flower-Fifth Avenue Hospital and are looking for a copy of your birth certificate, please contact the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The New York Medical College Archives serves as a reference source for both the College community and the general public. As a general principle, the Archives strives to make its holdings available to the widest possible audience, including historians, genealogists, and other members of the public with an interest in the history of the College. However, some of the Archives’ holdings may be closed to outside research.
The holdings of the College Archives and the rare books collection of the Phillip Capozzi, M.D. Library do not circulate. Researchers wishing to view materials in person must schedule an appointment for an on-site visit.
