The Phillip Capozzi, M.D., Library supports the research efforts of students, faculty, staff, and residents at NYMC. The USER Services staff offers three levels of service to aid you in achieving success in your research efforts:
Research consultations are available to anyone to assist with searching and research topic refinement (see our class listing for sample topics). Consultations can be in person or via Zoom.
Visit this page this page to schedule a meeting with a librarian.
If it is easier for you, you can also request a consultation via phone: (914) 594-4200 (ask for the reference librarian) or email us.
Reference Librarians are expert searchers who can execute searches for faculty, residents, and staff. If you are a student working with a faculty PI, we kindly ask the faculty member to submit the search request form. The librarians can provide search strings, an annotated bibliography, and/or exported results via .RIS file.
When the librarian's contribution is significant, the librarian would appreciate receiving acknowledgment in the final published work.
To request a search, fill out the Literature Search Request Form.
Librarians are available to collaborate with researchers on systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and other projects.
Librarians can develop and execute systematic review search strategies as suggested by the guidelines and standards outlined in the PRISMA Statement, and the Cochrane Handbook, as well as assist with other components of the systematic review process. At this level, librarians are considered co-authors based on the ICMJE authorship guidelines and Medical Library Association authorship statement.
Please complete the Systematic/Scoping Review Collaboration Request form to learn more about what a librarian can offer and request a librarian collaborator for your research project.
Note: this service is limited based on librarian availability to collaborate. While we do our best to participate in as many projects as possible, if we cannot provide this level of service, we will provide a literature search (see Level 2 above).
Research services are free for NYMC students, faculty, staff, and residents. Special rates are available for special and unaffiliated members. More information about fees can be found on the library service fee schedule.
