Deduping

  1. Click on the Organize tab in the main toolbar, which will automatically take you to the "Manage My Groups" subtab.
  2. Click on the "Find Duplicates" subtab.
  3. EndNote Online (Basic) will search across your entire library for duplicates and return with a list of the original references and their duplicates.
    • NOTE: Depending on your research and group organization, you may want to keep a reference in more than one group. However, since EndNote checks across your entire library and not within specific groups, it may be recognizing duplicates that exist only once but in different groups. If you want to check where these originals and duplicates live before choosing to delete one, click on the folder icon in the reference record to see what group(s) it belongs to.
  4. Duplicates will already be checked off.
  5. Check to ensure that the checked references are the ones that you want to delete and then click on the Delete button.
